Knowing Obscure Domain’s dedication to real Death Metal, I was quite interested to listen to “Blood Cure”, VOLTURYON’s debut album. Our fellow Swedes perform a quite cool aggressive (yet “technical”) Death Metal with some Thrash Metal touches. Don’t expect anything exceptional or extraordinary here, but rather straight-forward and well-played Death Metal. I think originality is not a matter to be concerned (since you won’t listen to anything new), but be sure that you’ll get some solid-structured songs with cool riffs, some solos here and there, a tight rhythm section etc. But to be honest that’s my only concern with “Blood Cure”; although it’s quite a cool and enjoyable album, on the same time it’s not memorable or ear-catching. At least it could have bit of more “identity” that would distinct VOLTURYON from the zillions of similar-sounding bands around. But don’t get me wrong, “Blood Cure” is a good album that deserves a chance since the band surely knows how to deliver the goods (not to mention their really good technical skills), but at times you need more than that to establish yourself in an already saturated scene and persuade people that have already lost their fate in it. Ok, that’s my own opinion. To sum up, “Blood Cure” is a decent debut album that shows a band with potential, thus should be given a chance, but – personally – I expect a bit more from VOLTURYON in the future. www.volturyon.se, www.obscuredomain.com
