VOMIT RITUAL is an unapologetic Death Metal band! Hailing from California, “Callous” is their first full length album released on Pulverised Records. Frankly, the opener ‘Strangling Opposing Throats’ is a brilliant opener! The band is at their A-game here, a brilliant 2 minute atmospheric Black / Death motion through the air decimating everything at sight which flows into their next track ‘Asphyxiated’. Nope, there’s nothing new here, but damn does VOMIT RITUAL know how to execute their sound like stated in the opening line is unapologetic, relentless and a dark thunderous wall of sound banging on your consciousness. Shout out to the drummer for being on-point throughout the album, the riffs are sharp and gently push the sound with every passing second. The bass stands out and fills in that invisible slot menacingly. Fans of generic Black / Death will gobble this album up. The band constructs sonic steps to help you step on to get a better view of the dystopia ahead. Again, the rhythm section stands out on the entire record, bloody brilliant! Track # 3 is again a gentle pathway, it sounds like Charon’s soundtrack whilst taking your soul across the River Styx and as soon as he drops you off and the toll is squared off, the band immediately drops you into the pits of war giving you no choice but to defend or die! Again, nothing new, nothing earth shattering but simple, efficient and effective delivery of the psalm that the band preaches. Will be a great driving companion and the band should be a treat to watch live! If you haven’t heard of the band or the record, give it some time.
