VRADEMARGK
Arrelats
(self-financed)
35:29min

VRADEMARGK is a Spanish Death Metal band and their upcoming third full length “Arrelats” is sung entirely in their mother tongue Catalan. The full length album is just 35 minutes long and frankly seems just right to the message they deliver. When we think of melodic Death Metal, my only single destination is Sweden. Granted, they’ve kind of overdone it and now it’s just a pale shadow of what it originally was. Operating in such an environment is quite a challenge and VRADMARGK actually manage to impress with their strong sense of rhythm. This isn’t an immediate shout out or a derivation of IN FLAMES or INSOMNIUM, for one the vocals of VRADEMARGK are your traditional Death Metal vocals and secondly the songwriting is very akin to your traditional Death Metal approach which entwine the melodic inferences. Track # 5, ‘L’Art De Morir’, is the second longest track of this album, clocking in at about seven and a half minutes. This is the standout track of the album, an easy, slow and a gentle descent where the band take their time to build up a momentum. This is perhaps the strength of the band, they work spectacularly as a team and add to the sound piece by piece. Granted, the riffs seem familiar and the approach isn’t new, but the band has built this delicate, yet surprisingly, good album with strong foundations. The sound is very engaging and dilly dallies into Dark Metal, especially during the slow passages which is quite remarkable. On the whole this is a strong release and fans of the subgenre would surely enjoy this. If you’re a fan of Death Metal at large, do give this album a listen. VRADEMARGK surely need more exposure given their vision and strength in execution. For more information, please visit: www.facebook.com/vrademargk, https://vrademargk.bandcamp.com
