Weapönizer
(Iron, Blood And Death Corporation)

I wasn’t surprised by the music that barraged my conscious when checking out Denver, Colorado’s WEAPÖNIZER. Their debut 9-song effort is in line with my preconceptions based upon their band name, the b/w apocalyptic warrior cover art and their record label, Mexico’s Iron, Blood & Death Corporation. What you get in less than a half-hour is a raw, old school pummeling that we’ve all experienced before but yet crave and crave again. Dirty, down-tuned riffage, blasting drums and an evil rasping vocal from their bassist, aptly dubbed Barbarian. This isn’t anything new but if you grew up on VENOM, WARFARE, BATHORY, ATOMKRAFT, SARCOFAGO, HELLBASTARD and SODOM (who they even pay homage to by closing the album with a cover of the band’s classic ‘Sodomy & Lust’) and you’ve worn out the grooves on your old vinyl and want to hear a new act continuing that sloppy, Crust / Punkrock flavored, blackened Thrash Metal then WEAPÖNIZER scratches that itch. www.facebook.com/pages/weaponizer/216551176662, www.ibdclabel666.bigcartel.com
