Sometimes the exact musical definition is far away from being important and the terminus Metal is the most suitable one for such releases. One of these releases is the third album from the American band WHILE HEAVEN WEPT. After 20 years of existence they recorded an album which is tearing apart any kind of style borders and which will for sure end their underground dedication. After so many years in this scene I don’t care if the word beautiful is applicable for Metal releases because “Vast Oceans Lachrymose” could be so easily described with this simple world. The band is playing – in every sense of the word – Epic Metal with great moments of solitude and silence which are perfectly incorporated into their creation. The album starts with the nearly 16 minutes opus “The Furthest Shore “which is offering everything this bands stands for with great guitars parts plus a lot of epic and a singer which brings back the great times of the American Power Metal. Sometimes I start to wonder why bands like AGALLOCH or WHILE HEAVEN WEPT can offer such emotional music even if their American roots would normally lead to completely different shores. With this release the band is offering a late highlight of this Metal year with an album which so easily replaced aggression with musical passion without the impression that something is missing. www.myspace.com/whileheavenwept, www.cruzdelsurmusic.com
