Das Aas

While other Black Metal bands come up with hard and evil phrases, shitty and wimpy CDs which are passionless thrown onto the market, some others such as WINTERBLUT release really individual stuff, silently but constantly, sometimes as a demo, sometimes as a complete full-length album. The demo tape we deal with here is called "Das Aas" and was unleashed in 2004, and this is really morbid. Musically WINTERBLUT move in slow and somehow strange rhythmic areas here, combined with simple and at times monotonous riffing this demo pulls you down into really sick spheres. The sound perfectly fits this atmosphere, it is rehearsal-like and raw but nevertheless surprisingly clear which I like very much and also shows that L’hiver, the man behind WINTERBLUT, knows what he wants and what he is doing here. You can even hear any note the bass-guitar plays in its morbid manner. Yes, there we have it again, "morbidity" and atmosphere are the strength of "Das Aas" and let many other bands look like pale shades. Let me add that all instruments are real instruments here, even the drums, unlike many other one-man projects. "Are you morbid?" Yes? Then go for this demotape and risk 5 Euro at www.winterblut.de, winterblut@hotmail.com
