“CRUSTACEAN plays an energetic and unpolished mix between American Thrash from the Eighties, Nineties’ Scandinavian riffing and PESTILENCE – alike vocals…” It’s always highly appreciated when labels not only supply us with free promo CDs, but furthermore include a review on that particular album in the same package already, haha. Nah, just kidding. But in this case I couldn’t have said it any better, cause the aforementioned quote (courtesy of the label’s info sheet) already describes this new Crustacean record in a very accurate manner. On one hand there’s these hateful vocals, that come across like a cool hybrid of Tom Araya and Martin van Drunen, with a touch of vintage Hardcore in it (as it was often the case with many 80s acts), then there’s this very SLAYER-esque, intense songwriting that got mixed with the Death Metal aggression that’s been happening in Scandinavia for quite some years now, plus maybe a handful of CELTIC FROST elements (the very beginning of ‘Soulsucker’ for instance even has a certain HELLHAMMER feel to it). And this whole coctail is being served in an incredibly professional and experienced sounding manner… No real surprise, cause the band already released a mini CD (“Headcleaner”) in 1995, their debut full length “Burden Of Our Suffering” on Teutonic Existence Records back in 1998 and another mini CD (“Satanized”) exclusively through the internet in 2000. The members are no newcomers either and have previously already been playing in (a.o.) SPINA BIFIDA, MASTER, ACROSTICHON and a SLAYER coverband. So, if uncompromising old school Thrash Metal is still exciting enough for you these days, you should definitely check these guys out! Satisfaction guaranteed! www.coldbloodindustries.com
