Germany’s old school Death Metal crusaders EVOKED have returned after five years from devastating the world with the release of their debut “Ravenous Compulsion”. The band brings forth “Immoral Arts”, a five song EP album to help quench the thirsts of its followers until the next full length can be unleashed on the world. Let’s dive in and get into some headbanging mania! Kicking things off is the title track with its ASPHYX style sound and vocals. At first I thought it was Martin van Drunen on the mic, but come to find out Bonesaw is a very good doppelganger for Martin (at least vocally). Fast paced with chugging guitars and thunderous drums, this song plain and simple just kicks ass. The sheer energy the band brings to the table is enough to ensure that after listening to his EP your neck will need a chiropractor’s attention. For those new to EVOKED, they have an ASPHYX / PESTILENCE style with a hint of modern. ‘From The Distance’ continues the party going with devastating guitar riffs. ‘A Nameless Grave’ has DEATH “Leprosy” genetics and from the get-go you know what you are in for with its mid-paced structure for a solid minute and then BAM!!!!! The song just changes gears into top gear, great transition. The band is lit up on all cylinders on ‘Behind The Eyes’ with its razor sharp guitars and decimating drums, it is relentless until about half way when there is a bass solo and then it repeats being relentless. In summary this is a solid EP worth checking out and with a run time of just over 20 minutes you can easily check this out during a lunch break or while driving to work. The production was crisp, the guitars were on point, the drums were demolishing the ears and the vocals just sent your mind into instant insanity. You can’t go wrong with this band, highly recommend for my OSDM fanatics. Do yourself a favor and give this a solid listen. For more info: www.facebook.com/evokedbydeath, www.facebook.com/fdarec
