Hmm, it seems that none of our contributors is really into DRILLER KILLER’s stuff as the possibility of reviewing the band’s sixth full-length wasn’t necessarily crowned with enthusiastic responses… I am not a big fan of this Swedish bunch either, but at least do have a lot of respect for what they’ve been consequently doing for nine years now. DRILLER KILLER have created a quite unique sound on their own, by mixing elements of old Hardcore Punk (in the early G.B.H., DISCHARGE, EXPLOITED vein), with the raw Rock’n’Roll attitude of MOTÖRHEAD and a few modern, Scandinavian Death Metal overtones. The result is highly energetic, totally aggressive, kick ass music that will most certainly be even more enjoyable in a small, sweaty club, with a couple of beers consumed. Still not something that I would freak out on constantly, but at least it’s not as annoying as I expected it to be. And hey – somebody should somehow make sure to play the band’s cover of ‘I Love Playing With Fire’ to JOAN JETT, who originally released that song on her 1983 release "Album"… I bet she’s gonna love it, hahaha.
