DRILLER KILLER / VIU DRAKH
Prime Beef Between My Teeth / Life Is a Battlefield
(Xetal Records)

It took them a little longer than originally planned, but it’s finally here after all – the DRILLER KILLER / VIU DRAKH split 7"! Both bands are featured with a track of their own as well as a covertune. I’m not into DRILLER KILLER’s stuff, so I won’t waste your time with my incompetent comments – just let me tell you that they contributed ‘Prime Beef Between My Teeth’ and the DISCHARGE tune ‘Never Again’ (which actually turned out rather cool). VIU DRAKH on the flip side once again made my day. It seems to me that these guys can do whatever they want (Crust, Death Metal, Punk…) – I always seem to like it for some strange reason. They are featured with ‘Life Is A Battlefield’ and a cover of ‘Crash Yuppies Must Die’ by ACCION MUTANTE. Both songs are more straight ahead and punkish sounding than what they came up with on their latest full length "Death Riff Society", but still extremely energetic and unmistakable VIU DRAKH! I am not completely convinced by the coversong as it’s a little too far away from what they usually do, but ‘Life Is A Battlefield’ is definitely a cool musical compromise. I’m not sure if this is a limited edition release, but my copy comes in clear vinyl and features a very cool cover idea for both bands… For ordering information contact: www.xetal-records.de
