DREAM UNENDING
Certain Uncertainties
(20 Buck Spin)
40:38min

All I can say about this release is: be ready. Be ready to ask yourself whether the record company accidentally blended a progressive, Jazz lounge band with the latest DISMA, or whether the band took Lord knows how much acid in the rehearsal room and just played anything, literally anything that came to mind. Some different and frankly a bit outlandish soundscapes await you because this stuff is all over the place. Think of EDGE OF SANITY during their experimental 40min opus, “Crimson”, and if they went even more bizarre and outlandish. I am aware of the members other bands TOMB MOLD and INNUMARABLE FORMS and while they are not exactly high on my list, they do fall within the paradigm of Doom, Death Metal and such as you may expect. Going into this release though you can only expect the individual members and their musical proficiency to shine, but beyond that, get ready for a bit of a curveball. This may appeal to a minority of the Death Metal aficionados, maybe out of respect for the aforementioned band member associations and / or you just truly love all music in its varied shapes and forms. I myself, personally speaking, find it very hard to latch onto it in any way. There is a lack of that memorable, dare I say, headbanging structure. It’s more like the guys said “Let’s throw it all to the wall and see what sticks.” Is this Avant-Garde, is this Progressive, is this Death Metal Fusion, is this Death Doom… I can’t quite tell you, and maybe you need to decide for yourselves. I will say their earlier releases are much more palatable and maybe fit the more typical structure or expectations, but they have truly decided to up the ante on this release and see where they can go with this, it seems. I’m at a loss for words as to who to recommend this to, and also what I can say to those about a lack of replay value for those truly not expecting what they are about to hear. I know the label 20 Buck Spin tends to have a varied roster in the sound department. Hell, they have SOLOTHUS (who are a fave of mine) on the roster, but this is stretching it a bit for me. Call me an old geezer who is not adjusting to the times or doesn’t understand progression and I will accept that. Like I always have stated, know before you go (buy). www.instagram.com/thedreamisunending, www.facebook.com/20buckspin
