Maybe the name ACID REIGN sounds familiar to some Metalheads and yes, the band from England was founded back in 1985 and released two albums in the late eighties / early nineties. “The Age Of Entitlement” is the follow-up to the band’s last full-length “Obnoxious”, dating back to 1990. The cover artwork by Mark Wilkinson (MARILLION, JUDAS PRIEST, FISH, IRON MAIDEN) is a matter of taste, but when it comes to the music there is no place for discussion. Well crafted Thrash Metal is waiting to be discovered. Since Thrash Metal, like any other genre, splits up in different sub-genres ACID REIGN represents the more easy accessible side, the level of aggression is not that high, the song structures are not too complex (although there are a few epic excursions) and blast beats are completely missing. Even the vocals are sung in a clear way and “The Age Of Entitlement” has more overlaps with “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct” by METALLICA or ANTHRAX. Metaphorically spoken the anger and frustration of the youth has switched to a more relaxed and laid-back style. But nonetheless powerful and punchy, supported by a clear and compelling sound. If you are looking for high-speed Thrash Metal with razor sharp guitar work or blackened Thrash Metal look somewhere else.
