AGAINST THE PLAGUES

Seriously it’s hard for me to listen to this record and not getting totally aggressive about the people which tell bands to produce and mix their sound like they did here on “Purified Through Devastation”. I am totally not made for that clean and pimped nothingness. For me this is always a decision against the soul and magic of coincidences and organic growing of sounds. A plague to be against. But as I know, the major Metal crowd sees it different. So to make it short and release me from my headphones: AGAINST THE PLAGUES enriches the technical Death and some say Black Metal scene with a piece of synthetic brutality which is just annoying. It feels like you should applaud every band member for his technical skills ensuring them approval for being a hell of a musician. And special thanks to computers and all the machines you can use to make your sound as plastic as possible. “Purified Through Devastation” has definitely a few nice ideas and riffs to offer as well as a very talented drummer. But everything is covered under a carpet of half-baked aspirations from fluffy synthesizers, blast beats, growls, chants, harmonic Rock solos, whiny clean guitars, and dissonant double picking. Stuffed into the songs like into a turkey on a US holiday. Including samples from TV news which I personally consider the most ass kicking idea since chemical warfare. This record impresses only through sheer brutality so if you enjoy that, trigger you life to death.
