Finland’s symphonic Black Metallers ALGHAZANTH have built quite a reputation for themselves as one of the most respected and most admired Black Metal bands of the whole Finnish Black Metal scene. They have been building up their own profile by putting out some quality releases over the years – and "The Three-Faced Pilgrim", is actually ALGHAZANTH’s 7th full-length studio recording within the band’s long career, spanning over 19 years. In my sincere opinion, "The Three-Faced Pilgrim" may well be the band’s finest work to date thus far. It’s infectiously melodic, hooky and soaring Black Metal at its powerful form that has this nice tendency to make you easily addicted to it. The musicianship is overall very strong on this record, and the most carrying element on "The Three-Faced Pilgrim" is actually the guys’ inner sense for similar undying melodies in their songs that were Jon Nödtveidt’s a sort of trademark on some certain DISSECTION’s songs that ultimately – once and for all, made DISSECTION to sound the way they did in the past. At this, creating magnetically captivating and somewhat immortal melody runs, ALGHAZANTH are quite masters really – and due to this, all these comparisons to DISSECTION are inevitable even. There’s no dull or weak moment to be found from ALGHAZANTH’s latest masterwork, and I am quite sure many fans of the Black Metal genre can definitely appreciate "The Three-Faced Pilgrim" as much I did. Great album indeed. ALGHAZANTH can be found: www.alghazanth.com, label: www.woodcutrecords.com
