AMOK VEDAR
Seelenfriede

I saw AMOK VEDAR perform together with AEBA, HIDDEN IN THE FOG and INGURGITATING OBLIVION last December in Hamburg and was quite impressed by their show (check out the "specials" section as well). This four-tracker can give you an idea of what AMOK VEDAR is all about. Gothic Black Metal with massive keyboards is their style. Two bad words in one sentence and yet a positive review – how come? Well, their approach to Gothic simply doesn’t mean whiny standardized shit for boring wimps – it rather reminds me of old gothic horror movies as this CD instantly creates some creepy feel good atmosphere. Still, the kick-ass drums as well as the guitars give "Seelenfriede" a lot of drive. There is no point in highlighting one of the songs as the compositions are floating smoothly and the musicians are talented indeed. The title track’s main melody somehow reminds me a little of classic "Spaghetti" Westerns, though. Don’t laugh, Ennio Morricone rules! Adding some good deep growls to the Black Metal style vocals turns out to be another good decision, so all that remains is to recommend this CD to people who appreciate melodies that cause goose pimples. AMOK VEDAR are the living proof that "kitsch" rocks! www.amokvedar.de
