It’s great to see that this amazing masterpiece by Czech APPALLING SPAWN is now available again for all deathbangers out there. In my humble personal opinion the debut album of this squad, which was originally released back in 1998, didn’t get the attention it deserved and was quite unterrated and neglected both by press and fans. If you have a listen to this awesome music for the first time it sounds a little bit chaotic in the beginning due to the pummeling and relentless drumming. Usually that kind of brutal music soon gets monotonous and boring but that’s not the case with this horde. Despite using the main ingredients most (brutal) Death Metal bands of that era have in common there’s a significient difference between standard stuff and the aural assault APPALLING SPAWN has to offer. These East European maniacs beef their music up with a lot of great melodic parts and guitar leads / harmonies. Furthermore the use of kinda progressive elements gives their music an extra kick and make the listeners hear how skilled and gifted the musicians are. You think that combination doesn’t work? The band proves the opponent. The music flows and has an great atmosphere despite the heaviness and intensity. Even the deep cookie monster like vocals sound great and go hand in hand with the superb tunes. It’s almost impossible to pick out a stand out track as all ten songs, which were featured on the first edition of "Freedom, Hope And Fury (The Second Spawn)", are on the same level of quality. Of course this cool re-release was pimped up a little bit. A new cover artwork was made for this compilation which looks much better than the original. Then everything was remixed and remastered from the original master tapes and the Demo tape "Bestial, Mythical & Spiritual (The First Spawn)" from 1996 was added as bonus as well. Now you have 16 good reasons to add this little underground gem to your collection (just in case you still haven’t done it ). Get your copy now from www.obscene.cz, sit back and indulge yourselves with a piece of great Death Metal.
