BLACK RABBIT is a Thrash / Death Metal band from Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. Per their biography, BLACK RABBIT have created “Their own thrashing Death Metal sound; fast-paced and groovy at the same time! You could say, it is a toxic concoction of KREATOR and CARCASS.” and it is pretty accurate. This young band from the Netherlands have managed to tick some good boxes. “Warren Of Necrosis” is their debut EP and the band has managed to put in some fair work on this self-financed release. The EP picks up pace minute by minute and by the end of track #2 the band packs in tight riffing with the classic Thrash vocals that we all love. Add to it, the old MEGADETH approach of soloing which has been executed really well. ‘Internal Death’ is easily the highlight on this EP, the solo alone pushes it right to the top. Take KREATOR, early MEGADETH, mash up Mille’s vocals with some of the aggressive MEGADETH riffing and we have BLACK RABBIT from the Netherlands. No, this isn’t the groundbreaking look into the past, this EP is a clear celebration of the older influences that the band members do with good intent. This is prime material for live gigs that you could completely get lost into and not worry about the decay of Thrash Metal or another such tangent. At just over 22 minutes the band manages to keep our interest and that is a good start! I would definitely listen to their full length to see how they progress from here.
