CARDIAC NECROPSY
Shayateen

This is fuckin’ amazing stuff!! Never heard of this horde from Singapore before, but quickly found out that CARDIAC NECROPSY have been active since 1991 already. Back in those days they were still called INFERNAL SCUM and played Thrash Metal, but after a short period of time they changed their name to CARDIAC NECROPSY, switched to a way more extreme form of brutal music and ever since appeared on various compilations and put out a shitload of releases and split-releases. "Shayateen" is their newest full length offering and when you listen to the ten songs (plus short intro) it has on offer, it’s pretty obvious that we’re dealing with highly skilled and very experienced musicians here. Every single detail on this album just sounds perfect to me, the band is extremely tight and comes up with a pretty complex songwriting, but due to the overall extremity it never sounds too technical, so as a whole it’s still an easy listening nevertheless. All of the songs are reduced to the max, but they always hit you like a bulldozer on a rampage! Musically we’re dealing with a very grinding form of brutal Death Metal here, with some tiny little pieces of Black Metal thrown in here and there (probably in order to achieve a little darker approach) and some classic Thrash Metal when it comes to certain parts of the songwriting. But don’t worry, the overall result is basically a very Death / Grind kinda thing, blessed with a top-notch production (the mastering was done by VILE’s Colin Davis at his Imperial Mastering studio in California). This also seems to be the band’s first release with a rather dark and more serious sounding lyrical approach though (also perfectly reflected in the cool looking coverart / layout of the digipak and booklet), as all the previous releases still came up with rather silly porn and gore type lyrics. So, to me this is definitely a step in the right direction and it would really surprise me a lot, if "Shayateen" would remain a self-financed release in the long run. This is simply too good to be ignored by the more established labels! Check them out at www.facebook.com/cardiacnecropsy or www.myspace.com/cardiacnecropsy
