CEASELESS TORMENT
New Degree Of Reprobation

Thrash Metal is all around these days – and new bands seem to be popping up from the (under-)ground like mushrooms after a heavy rain. But hey, that’s only a good thing in my opinion. CEASELESS TORMENT comes from Finland where the whole Thrash Metal boom has also reached a new level of enthusiasm and popularity – just like everywhere else in the world. This young 4-piece Thrash Metal act from the capital of Finland, Helsinki, does play their vintage sounding Thrash Metal pretty well actually. The song arrangements are kinda thought out – having enough hooks to make listeners interested in the band’s straightforward, fast and relatively raw Thrash Metal. It’s been done pretty much the way it was done back in the 80s when young Thrash troops were bursting out an unrelenting energy and rage, the main purpose supposedly to be the most aggressive and nasty sounding Thrash Metal act on the face of earth. CEASELESS TORMENT’s Thrash is sort of a blend of both American and European sounding Thrash Metal, in which a few familiar elements from both styles can be heard and recognized. At best these fellas undoubtedly are in the 3rd track ‘Suffer Ceaseless Torment’, which is definitely the most varied song out from this 4-track pack. A relatively long instrumental beginning surely confuses a listener to think this song is an instrumental song, but he / she is soon proven wrong after the song has reached the 2-minute mark when vocalist Sebastian enters in with his raspy vocal parts. If also other 3 songs had been written along the lines of ‘S.C.T.’ due to its strong attempt to have some variation in it, then this relentless group’s 2nd demo in order, would surely have stood out a bit better than it does as wholeness. The last song, ‘Lampaantappotalkoot’ (a rough translation to this could be ‘A Bee Of Lamb Slaughtering’) is the guys’ joke song, in which they only seem to get some extra steam out from themselves – and that’s all, I suppose. Nonetheless, I am already looking forward to finding out what the future may have in store for them. www.myspace.com/ceaselesstorment
