From Santiago, Chile, comes a band called COMMUNION that blends Death, Thrash and Black Metal with the kind of ancient feel that once made for example POSSESSED and NECROPHAGIA (Ohio) such tempting acts sopunding for everyone, definitely worth your own curiosity. COMMUNION’s 5-track mini-CD, that was released in 2010 on Chilean label Proselytism (and which appears to be sold out by now), is again one of those strong proofs about the vitality of the Chilean (underground) Metal scene – and how many great Metal bands have come out from that country for so many years already. COMMUNION makes no exception to this rule either. They reek of quality (make that with big capital letters if you want to) in terms of songwriting and execution; such a powerful and convincing impression they manage to give out from themselves on this 5-song offering, following some deep traditions of the ancient, dark and evil Black / Death Metal sound, which just cannot be disliked. Imagine a young Killjoy fellow (NECROPHAGIA fame) doing the vocals on POSSESSED’s "Seven Churches" record instead of Jeff Becerra, and you may have an idea how COMMUNION sounds like on this pretty darn impressive mini album of theirs. This is absolutely killer shit from start to finish, having no dull moments whatsoever. They keep it simple, without even trying to prove to be one of those most technical or skilled extreme Metal acts that are out there but that’s exactly what does the trick for them. COMMUNION’s stuff is meant to kill wimps and posers – and oh my unholy goat that’s exactly they also do on their altar of sacrifice, flagging such beautifully for crunchy, savage and evil blackened Death Metal the best they can. A fuckin’ awesome release, ’nuff said, I think. All further information at: www.facebook.com/communionblackmetalchile, label: www.proselytism.net
