Morbid Chapel Records has pressed the second demo of CONGENITAL DEFORMITY for consumption of the masses. “Sacrifice” originally released in December, 2020 gets a CD repress by Morbid Chapel who seem to be doing well in identifying some stellar stuff off late. CONGENITAL DEFORMITY is now a 2 person band, when I reviewed their first demo it was a one man project. Well, I hope this adds a bigger punch to the gut, so let’s find out. The 4 track demo opens with ‘Chainsaw Surgery’ and gets to business right away. The riffs are filthy and muddy. The band has moved away from the “Leprosy” era sound to a more well rounded shroud of dust and distortion. The shredding solo simply stomps on the tempo and goes haywire. The rhythm is rock solid with just the necessary drumming. This is a feast to the fans of 90s Death Metal. There are no magic trinkets rounding up the delivery, the band is just going at it with all adrenaline. Track # 2 ‘Sacrifice’ takes a step back and drags the heavy slab of graphic vocals and uncompromising rhythm with the necessary strength. Some parts of the track take me to BOLT THROWER. I’ve to say the band does sound considerably larger in comparison to their first demo “Progenies Of The Cemetery” and it is a good step forward. The guitars slowly descend into a rhythm that feels inspired by ‘Here I Die Forsaken’ but immediately after breaks into a frenzy of guitar notes that simply barge through the monolith. If you’re having any doubt, listen to track # 2, all fans of Swedish Death Metal and early Florida Death Metal will immediately recognize this monstrosity! On the whole this is a very enjoyable demo and has left me waiting for a proper full length. Highly recommended for all fans of the genre, particularly to the fans of Swedish Death Metal.
