Inscrutable are the ways of God. "Deal With Pain" was written back in 1988 / 89 and scheduled for release in 1990, but the band broke up. And now, after 28 years, the debut by DARKEST COLOR finally sees the the day of light. 28 years in which many things changed, but Thrash Metal is still a solid part of the Metal scene. SLAYER are intending to retire (re-union show at Wacken Open Air in a few years?), METALLICA have been driven fans into madness throughout the years with tin can drums and suchlike. Dave Mustaine is still jealous of not being a member of METALLICA ("Lars Ulrich is afraid to perform with MEGADETH" was the headline a few days ago) and ANTHRAX, well, that’s another story. But back to DARKEST COLOR from Greece and "Deal With Pain". It was no coincidence that I spent a few words about the big four of Thrash Metal, since the eight tracks (plus the HOLOCAUST cover ‘Death Or Glory’) are strongly influenced by mainstream Thrash Metal. No strange influences, no experimental songwriting, nothing unexpected. Of course this is, at the same time, the weak point. You have heard the riffs million times and to me I was permanently on the bring of getting bored. Although the album was written three decades ago it was recorded during 2016 / 17, with guest appearances by George Emmanuel (ROTTING CHRIST) and Frank Blackfire (ex – KREATOR, SODOM), so the sound is up-to-date. Thrash Metal fans should surely have a try. www.facebook.com/thomas1970.darkest, www.noremorse.gr
