Considering the fact that nowadays Death Metal underground is pretty much dominated by technical highspeed brutality an old school act such as San Diego’s fourpiece DEATHEVOKATION easily stands out of the masses. The band’s name seems to be influenced by the classic DISMEMBER tune of the same name, while a Chris Moyen artwork was chosen for the cover of this CD re-edition of "Blood" (their one and only demo so far). The three songs (‘Embers Of A Dying World’, ‘The Monument’ and ‘Blood’) as well as a couple of intros / outros originally got released on tape with a pro-printed, bloody red, high glossy cover, so even in that department the band chose to walk the old school path, which is extremely cool to say the least. Musically their early ’90s sounding Death Metal mostly draws influences from classic SweDeath (in some ways I felt reminded on very early THERION), mixed with the apocalyptic slowmotion insanity of old ASPHYX and therefore should easily appeal to all worshippers of pure and totally honest, raw fuckin’ Death Metal. No surprise that Xtreem Music decided to pick them up for a full length album, that is expected to be released by the end of 2006. Up till then you might as well get into the right mood by ordering a copy of the demo (CD). All further info you may get from the band directly.
