Although US brutal Death Metal heads DECREPIT BIRTH’s debut CD “And Time Begins” is a short pleasure, it is one I heartedly recommend to fans of DEEDS OF FLESH, HATE ETERNAL, SUFFOCATION and so on and so forth. The album needs some time to be fully discovered, because Tim Yeung’s merciless drumming drives it to speed extremes and the songs have pretty complex structures, but after a couple of listens one comprehends everything and at least I got almost addicted to it. In contrast to many other brutal Death releases “And Time Begins” has this sinister feeling one usually finds only in old school stuff, but fortunately DECREPIT BIRTH do not forget about that and combine excessive tempo, heavy riffing, deep vocals (no “oink oink” here) with the sinister and apocalyptic atmosphere good Death Metal needs!!! To sum it up, “And Time Begins” is well produced (only the guitars could have louder) and well layouted (fantastic Dan Seagrave cover) brutalizing Death Metal that makes you taste the blazing winds of humanity’s destruction!
