If there is a kind of Metal heaven, it might be Greece. Somehow there seem to be loads of dedicated fans, musicians, promoters and labels that keep up the flame of classic and old fashioned Metal styles. Yet most of them can be found in the True and Black Metal scene. Death Metal seems to play only minor walk-ons. But this might change now with DEIFIED SHREDS from Athens. The sound of this new five piece is deeply devoted to the old school of Death Metal from the early nineties. Especially the American sound had a huge impact on the Athenians. Their debuting EP “Overcoming The Fractal Deception” could easily pass as a remnant of the glorious times of the awakening of Death Metal. And this is definitely not a bad thing, as DEIFIED SHREDS are not a mere copy cat, but a dedicated band that picked up the spirit of old and transferred it into the present. Don’t expect something innovative or revolutionary here – the songs ‘Charity For The Filth Of Soul’, ‘Shredding The Deified’, ‘Anguished Metamorphosis’ and ‘Dread Of Existence’ seem to have been sent from 1991 to 2021 with kind regards and best recommendations.
