New releases are flocking to catch my attention these days, together with a lot of other things, so when I listen to an album and I’m not caught immediately, it can be quite tough to pick it up for an additional listen. That was more or less how the encounter with this release from DETHRONE was. It is actually quite strange that the music didn’t latch onto me at first, as the Swedes deliver high octane driven Thrashy Metal with a good dose of melodic Death Metal intertwined into it, quite an energetic and intense outburst from start to end. Overtaking THE CROWN on the inside, while they are gearing up to tour and recording new material is quite brave, as DETHRONE could be a bastard breed of said band and more American oriented thrashing madness, though these guys might do it, as their explosions of shred is quite enjoyable and hard hitting. Catchy and intense riffing, nice and fitting melodic leads, a well balanced vocal attack from guttural growls, to screamed frustrations, to classic Gothenburg vocals, pounding basslines, punishing drumming, well crafted songs and all the clichés, what else do we need? "Humanity" is an enjoyable and high powered outburst of energy and intensity, a must hear for fans of brutal thrashing violence. There’s not much new over this soup, but it is well prepared and tasting, it got under my skin after some listens and after that it made my neck hurt and I guess my feet has made my downstairs neighbors insane!
