Welcome To Oblivion

Fuck!!! It’s unbelievable how many killer Death Metal acts I’ve missed while VOICES was put on ice over the last couple of years. DISINTER from the Chicago area is definitely one of them! Those guys have already been around since 1990, released a couple of demos, a five song EP and a limited edition (1.000 copies) full length record on Pulverizer Records entitled “Desecrated”, which was basically their “Storm Of The Witch” demo from ’96 plus five bonus tracks from the same recording session. So, after all “Welcome To Oblivion” is still their first “real” album and – to cut the crap – a very impressive one! DISINTER come up with a very brutal form of American Death Metal and basically cover the whole spectrum with their ten own compositions. You’ll get some slower, yet very heavy tunes with a rather sick atmosphere (that even bring classic AUTOPSY to mind), as well as fast forward, straight ahead and totally devastating blasting tunes in the brutal Death Metal vein and the usual balanced stuff. Vocally the band varies between a deep grunted and hysterically screamed voice, which ain’t really a completely new idea, but always a very effective one. DISINTER not only manage to impress in terms of the musicianship – with their raw, unique and very crushing production they are also far away from the usual synthetic recordings that are flooding the market. Excellent!
