Released in 2013 already, missed by many (at least by me), obligatory for all. Well, for all who love their daily brew of Black Metal TAAKEish, DEN SAAKALDTEish, LJÅish or even old TULUSish. And I can assure you that DJEVEL are on the very same high level as the aforementioned acts. Supreme Nordic Art. The initial riff of their second album alone (which btw belongs to the title track) is worth the whole record. And there are so much more excellent riffs, melodies, parts and atmospheres to come. DJEVEL are brilliant in writing real songs with memorable melodies and not just gluing open chord riffs to each other how it is so modern these days. With alternations that just feel natural DJEVEL interweave every tempo (leaving doom and grinding blast attacks aside) into their songs. These songs and the overall mood of the album are, as the title legitimately says, possessed by moon and night. ‘Blant Fjell Og Falne’ is a short acoustic interlude exactly emphasising this title before the might of the distorted guitars rule again. The production is powerful, warm and contains the necessary creak to support the overall moods of the compositions. Every instrument and detail is audible in the mix, and if you ever wondered how to give the bass guitar an equally important character on a Black Metal release as the guitars, just do what is most recommended: listen!!! Don’t forget to check out their equally brilliant debut album "Dødssanger", too. More information at www.facebook.com/djevelmakt, www.aftermath-music.com
