DRAGGING THE CASKET is a one-man project act that was put together by L-G Hakamo since re-locating from Sweden to Hell-sinki, Finland. L-G Hakamo is mostly known for his previous Death / Thrash Metal band called ARISE (his last name was Jonasson when still living in Sweden. Now a married man? Then my sincere congratz! – Luxi) that has released 4 full-length studio album thus far. DRAGGING THE CASKET – however, comes pretty much from a different world compared to ARISE; this stuff is definitely more about Thrash Metal even if L-G Hakamo cannot go any hiding place from his experience in ARISE. There’s still some smell of a gun powder left from the melodic Gothenburg Death Metal in the sound of DRAGGING THE CASKET, which is understandable – and won’t work against him as any kind of curse, as we should believe. For L-G’s advantage it needs to be confessed that he has done a great job with this recording. I mean, doing all the instruments by himself – and making this to sound like a real band instead of some cheap project. The songs do flow nicely indeed, having enough variation and necessary hooks in them – and on top of all this, Jonatan Storm’s, more Black Metal type of vocal parts seem to fit into DRAGGING THE CASKET’s modern and catchy Thrash Metal approach surprisingly well. Slices of TESTAMENT, EXODUS, KREATOR and a few other names, can be dragged out from this stuff, so it’s actually relatively easy to sink your teeth into this if you just happen to be a Thrash Metal fan. As an additional note it feels almost criminal this album has released for free on 6.6.2011. Then again, if an artist is not robbed by people into free downloads, then greed people in the music industry do so anyway. More at www.draggingthecasket.com
