Au Ellai
(Solitude Productions)
51:56min
A whole music industry is talking about music without boundaries but still the majority of releases is sounding so similar that the fact who’s copy killed whom becomes a mystery. But luckily there are still exceptions to the rule and the handful of Solitude Productions bands are offering a refreshing mix within their dark Doom Metal universe. EA is using the Babylonia background – EA is the god of wisdom, water and magic – not only as source for their band name but also the lyrics are based on the old languages from Mesopotamia. The Russian band has chosen an extreme reduced medial presence – no MySpace account or website – so the music is doing the talking and in case of their third release “Au Ellai” it’s an abyssal message. The band is presenting three very intense songs and especially the opener ‘Aullu Eina’ with a playing time of over 20 minutes is capturing a very sacral feeling which can be easily compared to a dark mess. The album is using a wide range of influences and emotions to resurrect the dark age of Babylon terror – around 4300 years ago – and everybody who can agree to my opening words has the opportunity to listen to a dark, emotional , unique and therefore outstanding Doom release. www.solitude-prod.com
