ETHEREAL EXILE
Soul Beyond Time
(self-financed)

ETHEREAL EXILE is a new band from Poland and this full-length is the band’s debut. It is both available as digital download and Compact Disc. In my eyes the color of the cover looks a bit weird, reminding me of the latest remake of “The colour from outer space”. When it comes to the aspect self-financed, the sound is cracking and forceful, but for some reason a few songs are abruptly ending. The last few seconds are for some reason cut off, this happens on four of seven tracks and it is really annoying, because the music gets amputated and the joy of listening is reduced. When I listened to the “Soul Beyond Time” for the first times I always thought my hardware crushed. This is even more galling because the music is great. Melodic Death Metal with a huge Thrash Metal influence may serve as rough description. More than once the last KREATOR album “Gods Of Violence” came to my mind. Of course the very special voice of Mille Petrozza is missing, but vocalist Aurora does his best to sound both aggressive and expressive. Regarding the tempo, all songs are fast-forwarded and any intros, outros or interludes are completely missing. Pointing at the songwriting, it is worth mentioning that it is short and crispy, avoiding any redundant elements. To put it in a nutshell, ETHEREAL EXILE forged a highly entertaining blend of Thrash Metal and melodic Death Metal. Certainly “Soul Beyond Time” is one of the most smashing debuts in early 2020. So anyone interested in one or both of the mentioned genres should by all odds visit www.etherealexile.com or https://etherealexile.bandcamp.com.
