Hell yes, this is fuckin’ cool stuff! Anyone into good old fashioned Death / Thrash on a high technical level? Then you better make sure to check out Colgne’s very own GUERRILLA. This extremely talented fourpiece delivers ten tracks of very well composed, arranged and produced material, with musical references to ANNIHILATOR, newer DEATH and the likes, enriched by a vocal performance kinda close to a more deathly version of good ol’ Phil Rind (SACRED REICH). Brutality goes hand in hand with great guitarwork and a killer rhythm section. If they wouldn’t use such a silly bandname and logo, they would most certainly already have gained a lot more attention, I’m pretty sure about that! The band got together in 1994, changed (developed?!) their style a couple of times, from Hardcore / Thrash to melodic Death to this current, probably most convincing direction and released two demos and one EP on the way. Hopefully “On Target” will finally result in some established company picking them up as they certainly deserve it a lot more than most of the lame ass copy cats that are out there nowadays.
