HELL TREPANNER
Entrance To Hell

Any time I receive a tiny parcel from Berlin that could only contain a good old fashioned tape, my anticipation is pretty high, since the sender mostly is the dedicated tape label Weedhunter. The last parcel I received from Hannes presented another fine gem that just proves again his exquisite taste. It’s a re-release of the first demo tape from HELL TREPANNER, an up to now quite unknown band from Lima, Peru. “Entrance To Hell” was originally unleashed in 2016 in a vanishing small edition of 100 copies on a Peruvian label. Now the six songs are available again, but I should tell you to be quick if you want to get your copy, since again there are just 100 copies made. But asides from the strict limitation and the once again generous, professionally printed inlay, there is another damn good reason to buy “Entrance To Hell”. It’s, as you may have guessed, the music. HELL TREPANNER recorded half an hour of finest Thrash with a fine touch of Death Metal, that reminds of bands like INCUBUS (the ones now called OPPROBRIUM). The Peruvian guys learned their lessons from the old Thrash bands very well. But it’s not only SLAYER and other Thrash acts who paved the way for Death Metal who can be seen as the godfathers of HELL TREPANNER, but also bands like OVERKILL or, of course, KREATOR left their mark in the sound of the guys from Lima. All these influences combined with the South American school of the extreme gives a fine and pretty unique mix that is nothing less than great. The opener ‘Thrash Addicted’ already says everything, but ‘Motorsierra Asesina’ or the final double pack of ‘Entrance To Hell’ and ‘Brutal Extermination’ can take their stands as well. Yet, there are two songs that stand out on this fine tape. ‘Demencia Excesiva’ surprises with an quirky intro that reminded me of the DEAD KENNEDYS before turning into a Thrash volcano with old fashioned Crossover vibes. And ‘Trepanador Infernal’ is a fantastic track with a nod to INCUBUS and a hint on OVERKILL. But HELL TREPANNER haven’t shot all their bolts with this demo, for their new Promo tape released last year is of the same class. So it’s due time for you to check the band at www.facebook.com/helltrepanner or https://helltrepanner.bandcamp.com.
