Choosing the name HELLSPAWN after that MORBID ANGEL song is a sign of good taste. Thus it’s no wonder that there are some bands who chose that moniker. This Polish quartet from Wieluń is probably the best known of them all since “There Has Never Been A Son Of Me” already is their third full length album to date. And it will for sure help to spread the name HELLSPAWN a lot more. From the first riffs of the opening ‘Do Not Be Among Idolatres’, they ensure the listener that they aren’t out to revolutionize Death Metal, but to play it from the heart. Their American styled Death Metal is pretty much on the brutal side. A name like MORBID ANGEL, of course, comes to mind, but also VADER, DEICIDE, IMMOLATION or VITAL REMAINS have left their mark. This is dropping big names, but with a good reason, since HELLSPAWN are pretty close to them. Furthermore, the more youthful freshness of the Polish guys makes songs like ‘For The Number Is Human’ or ‘Hallelujah’ a joy for all who are into technical and brutal Death Metal. HELLSPAWN might not be ‘Heralded By Prophets’, but a solid album like “There Has Never Been A Son Of Me” has its raison d’être all the way.
