The very first thing that occured to me the moment I started playing this album was how well done the instrumentation was, the production on this album is top-notch. I can hear everyone, I know what they’re doing and most importantly the band knows what they’re doing with their strong songwriting. If you’re new to HERETIQUE, they hail from Poland and play Black / Death with touches of Thrash with solos that could be played in the background when Trey Azagthoth takes a stroll on a full moon night. If this quality control had not been met, I’d have wondered if they were indeed from Poland. I personally haven’t heard any terrible band from there in a while, if you have had the misfortune of coming across such a band, please do write to us. I’m curious! Coming back to “Bestias Hominum”, the album is such an easy listen, the band keeps it really interesting with every track having a unique spin either by the virtue of instrumentation or songwriting as a whole. This is something you’d admire from a distance, watching a well oiled machine run with no snags, I wonder how these lads sound live and I do want to see them on stage. The Black / Death bands always put up fantastic live shows and I truly believe HERETIQUE will instantly fall into that category as well. With a run time of just under 38 minutes, HERETIQUE managed to put out some of the heaviest Black / Death in a while and the sound meanders between the modern and the ancient making it twice as interesting. I really enjoyed this release! Every song had a surprise and the band marched on with a pace that doesn’t let you lose interest.
