We have recently received a killer album from one of those Polish bands that keep proving the scene in such latitudes is really healthy and loaded with many bands for all the tastes. This time the turn is for HERETIQUE and their brand new full length album called “Ore Veritatis” released through their country mates Psycho Records. Delivering an intelligent form of Death / Thrash Metal with some evil approach in their concept, HERETIQUE comes with an album that allows to feel some heavy and exquisite guitar riffs accompanied here and there with very technical guitar solos that are so clean that you even feel they could fit on a Heavy Metal song… really really nice. One thing I liked about this album is the bass sound, very crystal & clear but without causing any interference with the guitar work… there are some bass lines used to complete or reinforce some drum breaks or moments making the whole thing sounding heavier. If we say that musically speaking this band is into a form of Death / Thrash, it is obvious the drums have a primordial role here, and so it is, we find a drummer managing very effectively the double blast, especially in some heavy slow parts that are usual in HERETIQUE’s stuff. When it comes to the vocals, here is where we can find the strongest elements to Thrash given some high tone screamed voices, but it’s also from these voices from where the band projects this impious concept they manage…good references on this would be a couple of South American classics such as Peruvian MORTEM for example. The production is really good and so is the overall inlay card / layout that has this feeling of old school given the monochromatic approach used… however I felt a little disconnection watching the band picture… don’t know… it’s like one guy trying to fit the BEHEMOTH imagery and the rest are normal dudes… one of them with a CANNIBAL CORPSE t-shirt… details like that need to be taken care of to maintain the consistency in the future… however besides this small miss, the rest is simply great and well… so… if I were you… and got the chance to get your hands on this one… I wouldn’t hesitate, this is a quality underground release from a band that I am pretty sure we will be hearing about in the future. http://wydawnictwopsycho.com, www.heretique.pl
