Fuck! Shit! Do you know what happen with the good wines? They usually gain a lot of taste when time passes on them… Something similar can be said about this band. Their old works were not exactly my cup of tea, I listened to them like to whatever other "normal" record you use to hear if you’re really into the music, but without thinking twice about it. But this time, I’m absolutely surprised. What a piece of record, man! Starting by the high quality production and continuing with the musicianship, this record is absolutely amazing. I don’t understand very well why the fuck the label says that this is Viking / Pagan Metal. Maybe there are some touches of this procclaimed Viking style (listen to the song ‘Of Desire And Lust’ for instance…) but I think it’s exagerated to say that this is Pagan Metal. It’s undescribable melodic, yet aggressive and powerful Black Metal with a lot of content and certain elements taken from other styles such as Doom and even Death (and Viking Metal?… well, it’s up to you!!!). It has melodies full of emotion and meaning perfectly mixed with the intensity of a very good musicianship. Try to imagine to mix really awesome melodies (that sometimes remind me on KATATONIA, "Brave Murder Day" era!) with a lot of aggression, all in an incredible manner, and you’ll have what those French guys have achieved with this last record. The only thing I agree with is the "refined" expression they use. This is extremely refined and good. Seriously, if you like quality and extremely good musicianship, check this out. Very good, for Christ’s sake!!!
