Master Of Disaster

I haven’t really followed HOLY MOSES’ career after their one and only and kinda overproduced major full length “The New Machine Of Liechtenstein” back in the 80s, which I wasn’t too impressed by. With this new MCD they have returned to a more crushing and devastating Thrash sound of “Finished With The Dogs”, with influences ranging from VOIVOD (circa “Killing Technology” period) to SLAYER, combined with the typical 80s backing shouts. All five songs are extremely aggressive and probably the most intense the band has ever come up with, complimented by a solid production and tight musicianship. Unfortunately Sabina’s vocal delivery is mainly in a high-pitched and almost hysterical screaming vein nowadays, which I don’t enjoy too much. So, the best tune for me therefore is the closing ‘Down On Your Knees’ which she performs in her usual raw and brutal way. All in all quite enjoyable, but in times with many female fronted extreme outfits, certainly not as spectacular as back in their heydays. But I bet my ass that the drawn character on the cover is supposed to be Sabina herself…
