INFINITY
The Arcane Wisdom Of Shadows

The king is dead and his throne is completely deserted since the almighty DISSECTION passed away. But there is still hope that one day a band will come (sounds like a prophecy) which is in the position to close the big gap between the Death & Black Metal scene. In near future INFINITY could be claiming this throne as their property. Their latest release via Bloodred Horizon is their fourth album and even if the band is part of the Dutch scene for twelve years “The Arcane Wisdom of Shadows” is my first contact with them. The release starts furious with ‘From The Eternal Sea He Rises’, a powerful song whose major trademark is the acoustic guitar break within the song and also the follow up with a great drum section is more than a good song. The first songs of “The Arcane Wisdom Of Shadows” are showing very directly that INFINITY are using the same weapons as the once named king but still with enough own power and passion. Especially the effective (meaning minimized) use of the acoustic guitar and some nice effects plus the high technical level makes it a pleasure to listen to this release. The last handful of songs before the album is closed with a great cover of (not really a surprise) ‘Nights Blood` from DISSECTION are showing some further influences from NAGLFAR up to DARK FUNERAL. So a perfect release for the so called scene fetish’s but also an interesting release for all newcomers. www.infinity-blackmetal.com, www.bloodred-horizon-records.com
