The Narrow Path
(Black Blood Records)

If you turn out the lights bleak darkness will invade your surrounding and even if your eyes can adjust to the remaining light there is no way to escape the everlasting doom of humanity – death and final extinction. LICHT ERLISCHT – a side project of the Pagan Metal band HORN – tries to take a look behind this darkness and their debut album “The Narrow Path” is not a further Funeral Doom record from a lonely individual (with attached keyboard) who wants to give his desolated live a more or less artful form. The German one man band is presenting a much more vital and metallic version with several great ideas by fusing in some way the best elements of both worlds – Black Metal and Funeral Doom. LICHT ERLISCHT have worked very extensively to give every of the presented 5 songs another face and even if the songs are not in line with the normal playing time of 4-6 minutes is their never the slightest feeling of tristesse (in an negative musical way). Especially the middle section – can’t advise any song titles due to a very limited promo version – is showing that the band / project has chosen with Funeral Black Metal the perfect name for their style and LICHT ERLISCHT are – even if I know that their intention is completely different – another ray of light in a decaying subgenre. www.black-blood-records.de, www.myspace.com/lichterlischt
