NAILED TO OBSCURITY is another German hopeful which shows that Germany’s Death Metal scene has quite a lot to offer. This 8 song (+ outro) release offers high quality Death Metal with a huge potential to something really special. The sound on this recording is pretty good, the layout is very professional considering that this is a self-financed recording and the songs themselves are simply just too good to be ignored. As this 5-piece is a quite new outfit you can’t expect the most original tunes here. Next to harsh midtempo Death Metal you certainly hear influences from early KATATONIA back to “Dance Of December Souls” (melancholy), OPETH (acoustic parts) and EDGE OF SANITY (regarding the great harmonies and melodies) which don’t bother me at all. This band is in one of their first footsteps to something outstanding and therefore you won’t do something wrong to check out this new hopeful if you are fan of the early stuff of the abovementioned bands.
