One of my favorite Finnish bands right now are back at it, with a slap of demented madness thrown straight at our ears. You might have read a review or two of the band’s material on these pages by now, and know that these guys started out as pure inkognito personas, and little by little got exposed, even though they still go by pseudonyms, a band of Teds, so to say. The music also started out faintly lighter and more lighthearted than what this output serves us. The guys have gotten angry so to say, the 6 songs on this tape oozes of frustration and anger, delivered with a backbone of pissed off guitar riffing and punished drumheads. NAPALM TED already did some nice songwriting from the beginning, as the flow was present and the music was coherent, though they have kept on evolving. I like when bands not are forgetting the flow in aggressive and fast music, as it a tad too often happens, not here, the coherence is present, and offers a nice rollercoaster ride of emotions. NAPALM TED is entering the scene as a serious contender for a record deal with this tape I think, as it is quite worked through in its appearance, and strong musically. You go from the fast and aggressive opener ‘Bad Dude’ to a midpaced downtuned evil frenzy in ‘Head On’, where you get turned inside out, without the band losing the aggressivity. I am really impressed by the weight that is behind the aggressive outbursts. Besides the band being ready for a little full length, this tape’s material is a perfect fit for a smashing 7", come on labels! And I can not forget the last track on the tape ‘Deadline’, a perfect put emotion on how we all feel about such, from both ends ;), much more info and music here: http://napalmted.bandcamp.com, www.facebook.com/napalmted
