With NECROFAGOS from Cali in Colombia, we dive deep into the underground. This four-piece is around since 2008 in a constant line-up and did a few recordings yet. These are released on two split 7”es, a demo and this live album, available on tape only. Since we’re digging in the underground of Metal, you can for sure not expect a professional live recording, with a big post-production and overdubs and stuff. Thus we get a very simple soundboard recording, with the audience barely audible and a very imbalanced mix. Guitars and bass are sometimes almost unnoticeable, especially when a fast snare dominates the scenario. And this happens quite often, naturally, for NECROFAGOS took up the cause of the oldest school of Death Metal, sometimes pretty close to the old “proto” Death Metal bands. After the ‘Intro’, the first song ‘Trono De Gusanos’ somehow gets lost in the drumming and the vocals. It gets better a little bit with ‘La Cabeza Podrida De Cristo’ that is fine old school crushing. In the long run, it gets easier to feel at ease with the sound of NECROFAGOS on “Honrando A Los Muertos”, the band “anthem” ‘Necrofagos’ and the demo song ‘Nigromancia’ mark two highlights on the tape. Especially with these two songs, NECROFAGOS are very close to the atmosphere of the old South American bands or their country mates MASACRE. For those who dig stuff like this, “Honrando A Los Muertos” will be a feast of rotten pleasure. So, if you like your Death Metal oldest school, you should contact NECROFAGOS at necrofagosdeath@hotmail.com
