Do you like AUTOPSY? Let me be specific: do you like "Mental Funeral" era AUTOPSY? If yes, this is for you! And of course any self respecting reader of Voices From The Darkside worships AUTOPSY, right?! Here we have a compilation from the mighty NECROVOROUS and I am not gonna bitch and moan as others do: "why… this is a compilation!! How dare they??" I’m 42 years old and have nothing to prove to anyone, so I do NOT keep up with the vinyl races: "get it now! Only 500 made!" or "Get this 7" now only 2 made and I have one!" For me: fuck all that. These types of compilations (this is the "Crypt Of The Unembalmed Cadavers" EP from 2009, NECROVOROUS’ side (4 trax) of their split with MEATHOLE INFECTION, 4 trax (including intro and outro) from their "Promo 2010", a DEATH COURIER cover (track 11 ‘The Hunter Of The Dark’) and 3 live trax (including the ROTTREVORE cover ‘Conspiracised’) to round it out grotesquely) help people like us out that are: a) interested in the music and / or b) never got around to getting all this material. It’s all in one convenient package, that I recommend highly that you get it now! I swear to you that many times I would do a double take / look at my stereo and think "is that Chris Reifert singing?!" because the vocals of Devil Pig are almost a spot on reproduction of Chris Reifert’s vomits! You see what great benefits you get from years and years of uzzo abuse? Yeah!! And the pace of the drums is brisk and lemme say action packed! As Shit Eater does a fast Thrash beat then slips quite comfortably into a fuckin’ blast keeping you, as a listener, on your toes and interested in the song and wanting to hear the next track – including the live pieces which benefit from a clear yet raw sound – and really wanting to listen to the whole album again!! Not to forget to mention the intros and outros!! They are spooky, some are creepy ("Mental Funeral’ style!!) and some just plain disturbing! Some of you might recognize ’em from Horror movies (I am just a Horror fan in passing). Firstly I wanna thank the boss Frank for giving me this assignment as I have discovered a great new band that I very much enjoy, and I recommend you to buy this or get in contact with NECROVOROUS!! Get this release! And to NECROVOROUS, keep up the fucking disgusting disturbing unwholesome good work! www.facebook.com/pages/necrovorous/197091477000668, http://necrovorous.bandcamp.com, label: embrace_thorns@yahoo.com

I recently read that Blood Harvest Records is about to release a 7"EP called "Crypt Of Unembalmed Cadavers" from these Greek newcomers, sharing another "Necro"-name. Therefore I’m not really sure if this 2 song demotape is available for the crowd or more something like a promo release. The release itself looks quite official with a copied cover, tracklist and everything necessary so feel free to ask them. As I said, two songs are offered here with morbid and ugly Death Metal, with a slight AUTOPSY touch. ‘Moribund’ starts with an interesting acoustic intro and convinces among the most important with its ugly and brutal Death Metal simply in the vein of AUTOPSY back at "Severed Survival" and "Mental Funeral". Same goes for the title track which is even more in the "Mental Funeral" vein. The sound is a little bit sloppy but we are talking here about an underground demo release and not another Mathcore release offered from Relapse Records. And besides that, an AUTOPSY-influenced band can’t have a great sound, right? I like it this way and NECROVOROUS are pretty good in what they are doing. For maniacs of the Death Metal underground movement this band is worth to support and I’m waiting what their next output will offer which is supposedly a full-length recording to be released on Blood Harvest announced for mid 2010. Check out www.myspace.com/necrovorous and ask if this tape and their former releases are still available.
