Ever since I got to hear relentless Norwegian Thrashers NEKROMANTHEON’s debut album, "Divinity Of Death", I thought I really need to follow the band’s future endeavors release wise at least. Could Thrash Metal be just any more vicious, gritty and explosive than what this young trio did on their debut? It was one hell of a Thrash-tastic release, storming around like a ravenous cannibal at a meat store. "Rise, Vulcan Spectre", the 2nd record from a butcher’s favorite sons, is – could I say, even a tad more vicious and aggressive effort from NEKROMATHEON compared to their debut; the type of ‘all-or-nothing’ release that really doesn’t compromise a bit but shows right away that some steel is not meant to be bent under any possible circumstances if you know what I mean by this? NEKROMANTHEON have often been compared to bands like MORBID SAINT, early SADUS and the "Hell Awaits" era SLAYER – and I am sure some of those influences of the aforementioned bands, can undoubtedly be found on "Rise, Vulcan Spectre". However, I would also personally add early DESTRUCTION, POSSESSED and WHIPLASH’s "Power And Pain" era to the very same pile, if I ever described this very muck kick-ass record to someone. There’s lots of the same frenzy and sort of uncontrolled primitive energy in NEKROMANTHEON as there used to be in bands like DESTRUCTION, POSSESSED, etc. some 25 years ago. You can hardly come across with so energetic and maniac-like act like NEKROMANTHEON these days, so for a serious old school Thrash banger "Rise, Vulcan Spectre" is simply a ‘must-hear-and-experience’ record. ’nuff said, I think.
