NOCTERNITY
Harps Of The Ancient Temples

The end of the year draws near and the second full-length by NOCTERNITY from Greece is, besides the countless VARDAN outputs, one of the hottest candidates for "most boring / uninspired Black Metal album of the year". Creating music is a little bit more than just the ability to play instruments and making the whole affair not sounding like a sonic hodgepodge. Standard songwriting in the vein of early 1990s Scandinavian Black Metal, the standard riffs and standard vocals are completely missing any kind of atmosphere, mood or emotions. Just imagine eating a fruit without flavor. You know it is a apple because because of colour, shape and consistency but the whole thing just tastes like nothing. Accordingly three of eight songs have been already released on vinyl in 2012 respectively 2007 and NOCTERNITY did not just recycle the album title "Harps Of The Ancient Temples" from one of those EPs but also the cover. If it would have been a special artwork with an all important meaning, but it is just a photo of a guy wearing an ancient (Greek?) helmet. To sum it up, in my opinion dedication, commitment and inspiration is totally missing. www.facebook.com/nocternityofficial, www.necroshrinerecords.de
