NOMAD SON
First Light / Pilgrimages Of Doom
(Metal On Metal Records)
45:11min

"First Light" is the highly appreciated debut album of NOMAD SON, a real stepping stone for these Malaysian Doomsters to get their pickaxes cut in a rock. I am not going to re-visit that album any more, and write a review for it because I did already review it for another publication, like 3 years ago or something like that. Since then, NOMAD SON have released 2 more albums ("The Eternal Return" in 2010 and "The Darkening" in 2013) that pushed the band’s name even more determinedly yet so deservedly for people’s awareness, managing to build up a solid fan base for NOMAD SON. Italian Metal On Metal Records did a wise move by re-releasing NOMAD SON’s debut album "First Light" as a CD / DVD dual-sided disc, which makes a truly beautiful and worthy package for your hard-earned pennies. As for the DVD itself (playing time: 126:00min), it’s great and very entertaining to watch the band’s performances on the DVD really. Their live performances cover 4 different festivals – not fully but some live songs off each featured festival anyway (the featured festival performances of NOMAD SON are: Hammer Of Doom VI, Doomsday IV, Headbangers Open Air XII and Doom Shall Rise VII), offering over 2 hours of stuff to watch (this also includes one interview, a TV show performance of the ‘Light At The End’, a photo slideshow and DVD credits). The use of different camera angles accompanied with a good sound quality in each of NOMAD SON’s live festival performances, is what makes all 2 hours fly like on the wings. Songs off the band’s first 2 albums are covered within these 4 different festival concerts, and it’s simply just pretty darn amazing indeed how well prepared, professional and tight NOMAD SON sound and look live, in all of the 4 live appearances actually. Much credit must go out for every member of the band; they all create a strong performance together. One cannot do without the other, you know. Without going much into certain details of this DVD though, I can only warmly recommend you to get this for yourself. How could you possibly resist any 1-in-2 packages anyway when you would just have to pay the price of one regular CD for it? Now just sit back and prepare to get entertained by the mighty Doomsters NOMAD SON, through all 2 hours this DVD lasts. www.facebook.com/nomadsonmt, www.metal-on-metal.com
