NYX
Hairesis

NYX from Turin, Italy (not to be mistaken with NYX from Rome, Italy) are named after the Greek goddess of night. "Hairesis" is the follow-up of two demos and one EP and although, at least for my taste, the playing time may be little too short it is published as an album. Especially when you discount the intro, two interludes plus the track ‘Nema’, which is nothing more than an three minute lasting interlude. The whole affair is more than annoying, because NYX are not in need of such monkey business. Fast and aggressive Black Metal in the vein of DARK FUNERAL and early MARDUK. Black Metal riffs with a melodic touch, but avoiding to loose the feeling of grimness and hatred, excellent played guitar solo and the vocals are more like Death Metal grolws than high-pitched screams. Each song is well-elaborated, a nearly perfect mixture of rhythm changes, breaks and blast beats. Recommended song is ‘Tulpa Strigoi’, if you like this one the whole album will not disappoint you. www.facebook.com/pages/nyx/241840199206758, www.vacula.com.ua
