PENSÉES NOCTURNES
Douce Fange
(Les Acteurs De L'Ombre Productions)
49:56min

Being 52 and listening to all kinds of Metal for more than 40 years means that I heard a lot of music in my life yet. Strange music. Weird music. Obscure music. I always thought that nothing might be shocking any more. But PENSÉES NOCTURNES from Paris really left me puzzled and confused. “Douce Fange” is nothing less than 50 minutes of the most avant-gardistic music I ever heard. Imagine a mix of Black Metal, circus music, Chanson, French Folklore, Free Jazz and complete insanity, and you’re not even close to what this album is all about. A vocal delivery that includes manic screaming, deep opera styled vocals and speech song doesn’t make it any easier to understand the nine compositions (I avoid the term “song” on purpose here). With the use of instruments like accordion and some brass, I’m finally out! This is way to much for my old school Metal nature. Maybe PENSÉES NOCTURNES are the real hot shit for some of you, so if you’re into Avant-Garde, and I mean REAL Avant-Garde, visit www.facebook.com/pnrecords or www.facebook.com/ladloproductions
