PESTER
Sombre Infinity

Well, I have this demo lying on my desk for almost a year now and never reviewed it, but definitely not because it is crap, if there is a least one reason then it might be my laziness, sorry guys! PESTER come from the southern part of Germany and call their music "true Bavarian Death Metal", but "true Swedish Death Metal" would be a better description, I think. The vocals sound a lot like Dan Swanö in the good old EDGE OF SANITY days and musically PESTER step on Scandinavian old school paths, too, but emphasise slower paces causing almost all songs on "Sombre Infinity" being mid-tempo tracks with a few blasting outbreaks or up-tempo passages. Honestly spoken the fact that PESTER tend to do it slow, is the only thing I feel necessary of being criticised, because in terms of songwriting and production the Bavarian trio did a pretty good job and comes up with elaborated, concise, powerful and definitely not boring sounding tracks, but a little more darkness, brutality and speed would improve the whole thing and might make PESTER a band to watch out for in the future. "Sombre Infinity" shows that PESTER have a serious amount of potential and creativity even now and especially the guitar section and the excellent vocalist deserve attention. This is a solid first output and I think you do no wrong if you support this band, because I feel they may become really, really good, when they invest enough time and intensity in their evil doings. Fans of mid-paced Death Metal à la GRAVE, EDGE OF SANITY, BOLT THROWER etc. should contact the band via their email address foxi6979@aol.com (sounds more like the address of a porn star!) and ask about price and availability of "Sombre Infinity".
